It wasn't supposed to be this way. Life, that is. I was supposed to wake up the day after graduation, diploma in hand, and stroll smugly into my new life. My new life with a new house in a new town, a new boyfriend, a full bank account and a nice new cushy job. Instead, I've stumbled backwards into this sort of renovated life. My high school life has been gutted and rebuilt into this post-college reality check. Some might say its a dump, others a handyman's dream, I just say it sucks. The same old house that I've lived in since 10, no boyfriend(or even a prospect of one), a quickly declining bank balance and certainly no job other than my self-appointed post as freelance daytime television analyst.
It wasn't supposed to be this way. I was supposed to be meeting my ever-expanding circle of friends for cocktails after work at the town's trendiest bar to discuss the days events and bitch about bosses and deadlines NOT waiting by the door for my parents to come home to fill them in on the ever-so-complicated plot lines of the day's soap stories.
It wasn't supposed to be this way. I was supposed to be successful, and happy, and miles away from the starting blocks NOT sad, and lonely, and still waiting for the pistol shot.
It just wasn't.
